Dvorak Three Spiritual Songs Op.19b (Tenor & Organ)

The three sacred songs for tenor solo and organ are connected to Dvorák’s friend Alois Göbel (1841–1907), who was at the time a clerk at the estate of Prince Rohan residing in Sychrov Castle near Turnov.  The pieces do not form a cycle, as they came about one by one in the years 1877–9 during Dvorák’s summer visits to Sychrov, as incidental music for moments of private celebration with close friends and family.

The publication is part of the first Complete Critical Edition of the Works of Antonín Dvorák.  The Preface and Editor’s Notes (Cz/Eng/Ger/Fr) are written by Jarmil Burghauser and Antonín Cubr.
