Mendelssohn Scherzo from A Midsummer Night's Dream Op.61/1 arranged for four Flutes (Score & Parts)
Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) composed the incidental music to “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” almost 20 years after his famous overture of the same name, about which he once wrote in a letter “Today or tomorrow I want to begin dreaming the Midsummer Night’s Dream”. The Scherzo from the incidental music ranks as a masterwork which vividly conveys the sprightly elfin character of the comedy in brilliant colours.
Our arrangement lets all four parts actively participate in the musical process and gives flutists a unique opportunity to perform this charming example of Romantic music entirely on their own instruments.
