von Knorr Piano Music IV

Ernst-Lothar von Knorr (1896 – 1973), born in Eitorf near Cologne, was a conductor and composer. Following studies at the Cologne Conservatory he played violin in various regional orchestras before teaching violin at the Berlin Staatliche Hochschule für Musik from 1937 later becoming Director of the Hannover Hochschule für Musik from 1952 – 1961 and the Heidelberg Hochschule für Musik during his retirement between 1961 and 1969. Few of his manuscripts or documents before 1944 survive as his apartment at the time was destroyed in an air-raid on Frankfurt.
