Music of the music of the Easter Oratorio originated in 1725 as a simple cantata "Entflieht, Verschwindet, entweich ihr Sorgen" composed for the birthday of Duke Christian of Saxe-Weissenfled. It was later revised with newly composed recitatives and new text into an Easter cantata.
