Seither One Woman Opera for Voice & Percussion (Playing Score)
Composed 2004; One-Woman-Opera for Voice and hand percussion.
Charlotte Seither was born in Landau (Palatinate), Germany, in 1965, and studied composition, piano, German language and literature and musicology in Hanover and Berlin. She obtained a doctorate in philosophy in 1998. She has received numerous prizes and awards, including the first prize in the International Composition Competition “Prague Spring” (1995), the Supportive Prize of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation (2003), and first prize in the international composition competition “Premi International Ciutat de Palma” (2004), Scholarship awarded by the German Minister of Culture for a one-year stay at the German Academy Rome, Villa Massimo (2009). As artist-in-residence, she has lived and worked in the Cité des Arts, Paris (1999), Palazzo Barbarigo, Venice (1993) and at the Villa Aurora, Los Angeles (2000). After a guest professorship at the Hochschule für Künste, Bremen (2002) she has continued to work there as a lecturer in new music. Her works have been performed at numerous festivals, including with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, London (2004, 2007), the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, Prague (2006), the ASKO Kamerkoor, Amsterdam (2005), IFWM Festival, Seoul (2003), the GRAME Festival, Lyon (2002), Nuova Consonanza, Rome (2004), LACMA, Los Angeles (2001) and GAUDEAMUS, Amsterdam (2006). In 2014 she was presented the German Music Author prize in the category “contemporary choral music”.
