Silesius Heilige Seelen-Lust (Facsimile, hardback)
Reprint of the five-part edition Breslau 1668
Angelus Silesius' "Heilige Seelen-Lust", an outstanding testimony of piety and music culture in the 17th century, contains over 200 poems, some with melodies. The complete five-part edition of 1668 is reproduced here.
Known either by his nickname "Angelus Silesius" (The Silesian Angel) or under his birth name Johannes Scheffler (1624-1677) - the Baroque poet from Silesia is equally known to Christians of both denominations, his rank among literary scholars, theologians unchallenged. Some entries from the hymn book "Heilige Seelen-Lust" from the year 1668 have long been known beyond the liturgical arena.
